Spotlight ProjectChallenge: To open up a second summer home on Lake Wylie with a dated floorplan and provide a cool summer getaway. Metropolitan Design Concepts completed a renovation representing a complete overhaul of this dark, outdated vacation home. This uninspiring home had a boxed-in kitchen and green shag carpeting. Stacie opened up the main hall from the foyer from three feet to 6 feet, which created a focal point on the view of the lake throughout the house. She also widened the windows and added two more windows on the side to brighten up the space and expand the views to bring the outdoors in. Metropolitan Design Concepts also opened up the entries to the kitchen and created both a relaxing space for the family to enjoy while Mom does cooking, installed state of the art appliances, a wine coolerand installed spacious, functional cabinetry. Result: Shown by the photos before and after the construction process, Metropolitan Design Concepts' interior design put a certain joie de vivre in this lake house. The family room now maximizes light and views of the lake. The paint and furniture integrates, cool organic colors that pop. Hardwoods were integrated throughout and white 48" paneling brightened up the whole space. The bright white kitchen creates a new happy space for the family, with a beautiful focal point of a full-length leaded glass lit cabinet. In the dining area, Stacie created built in open shelving which provides an ever changing, flexible storage space. The family can quickly and easily grab bowls or plates as needed from this boxed design. The final result was a clean, bright new home witha modern take on the true spirit of the lake.
